Vineyard Wind Gets CRMC Federal Consistency Agreement

The Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) has issued the federal consistency concurrence for the Vineyard Wind offshore wind project.

The news follows Vineyard Wind’s submission of a commercial fisheries mitigation proposal and a commercial fisheries biological assessment monitoring plan summary to CRMC.

The Massachusetts office of coastal zone management is expected to issue its federal consistency determination this June, while the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is scheduled to issue its record of decision for the project construction and operation plan this summer.

Vineyard Wind, North America’s first large-scale offshore wind farm, will feature MHI Vestas 9.5MW turbines located some 14 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard.

The 800MW project will enter the construction phase this year and is expected to be operational in 2021.
