Visser & Smit Marine Contracting and Ballast Nedam Offshore at Offshore Wind Installation and Maintenance Conference Rotterdam


Ton Geul, Business Development Manager at Visser & Smit Marince Contracting and Edwin van de Brug, Commercial Manager at Ballast Nedam Offshore will present their views during the conference Offshore Wind Installation and Maintenance 3011. The second edition of the conference will pay special attention to the electricity grid.

Visser & Smit Marine Contracting is one of the market leaders in the field of subsea cabling. Since their establishment in 2005, the company has been engaged in a significant amount of submarine power cable project in North West Europe (a.o Thornton Bank, Hornsrev, Gunfleet Sands, Walney). VSMC is a partner in the Friends of the Super Grid: a group of companies and organizations with a mutual interest in promoting the policy agenda for a European Supergrid. During one of the sessions on the electricity grid, Business Development Manager Ton Geul will discuss the practice of offshore cable laying.

Ballast Nedam’s heavy lift vessel “Svanen” has been employed as an installation vessel in a.o. the Belwind and Gunfleet Sands offshore wind farms. During the conference, Commercial Manager Edwin van de Brug will discuss port and vessel requirements for installation with special attention for future perspectives for further and deeper offshore wind farms.

Information about the conference

Offshore Wind Installation and Maintenance 2011 is the only event in The Netherlands to focus solely on installation and maintenance. Conference sessions will zoom in on the opportunities and the challenges in this growth market for utilities companies, development companies, offshore suppliers and service providers, and other stakeholders in the sector.
