Vroon Takes Delivery of New Anchor Handler

Dutch shipping company, Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) on Thursday 25 October 2012 took delivery of VOS Atlas. The vessel was delivered from Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China.

VOS Atlas is a 59-metre “A class” anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel and the last of three vessels being built at this yard for Vroon that has the additional class ABS notation “Oil recovery Class 2”. She is also the 22nd and final vessel in a series of 59-metre AHTS vessels built at this yard for Vroon.

The “A-class” vessels are more advanced than the “H-type” and “T-Type” AHTS vessels also operated by Vroon, having a bigger bow thruster (8 MT) and an additional stern thruster (6 MT) that allow improved manoeuvring and station-keeping capabilities. VOS Atlas meets the ABS requirement of DP-1 notation. The vessel will leave the yard in the coming days and will be operated by Vroon Offshore Services Pte Ltd in Singapore.
