Vroon’s VOS Star vessel delivered in China. Sets sail to North Sea

Vroon Offshore Services, a Dutch offshore shipping company, has expanded its fleet with the VOS Star subsea support vessel.

The 68-meter subsea support vessel is the second of two such vessels built at Fujian, China.

According to Vroon, sister vessel, VOS Sugar, was delivered to Vroon earlier this year and will be christened at a ceremony to be held later this week in IJmuiden, the Netherlands.

As for the latest addition to the fleet, VOS Star, the vessel left the shipyard Sunday afternoon, embarking on a journey to the North Sea.

After the arrival in Europe, VOS Star will be further outfitted and available during this year’s subsea season. The VOS Star will be operated by Vroon Offshore Services Den Helder.

Vroon says that both vessels feature active heave-compensated crane, plus a retractable and a “super-silent” tunnel bow thruster, enhancing DP performance, fuel efficiency and crew/client wellbeing. In addition the vessels are equipped with high-speed client communication system – including internet connectivity and hotel-type comfort.
