Wartsila’s Marine Division ‘Not for Sale’

Rolls-Royce has confirmed that it was in talks with Wartsila regarding a possible offer for the company.

The talks were related to the Wartsila’s marine-propulsion unit, the Wartsila Oyj Abp (WRT1V.HE), reports Bloomberg, quoting people familiar with the matter.

Rolls-Royce said in a statement: “Rolls-Royce notes the recent press speculation and confirms that it has been in preliminary discussions with the Board of Wärtsilä regarding a possible offer for the company. However, those discussions are no longer continuing.”

Wartsila today also confirmed that there are no longer ongoing discussions with Rolls-Royce.
