WATCH: Culzean CPF Jacket Sets Sail

Maersk Oil North Sea UK, operator of the Culzean field, has reached another milestone as the 8,540-tonne central processing facility (CPF) jacket starts its journey across the North Sea.

The jacket was built at Heerema Fabrication Group’s Vlissingen facility in the Netherlands. It will be installed by the deepwater construction vessel (DCV) Thialf.

According to the specs, the jacket is approximately 115 metres tall and has a footprint of 38 x 38 metres with a top of 24 x 30 metres.

The high pressure, high temperature (HPHT) field in the UK Central North Sea was discovered in 2008 by Maersk Oil and its partners.

The overall Culzean development concept consists of a wellhead platform, a central processing facility platform and a separate utility & living quarter platform with capacity for over 100 people. The platforms will be linked via two bridges some 100 metres in length.

Once the jackets are in place this summer Maersk Oil expects the arrival of the topsides over the course of 2018. Production is expected to start in 2019 and continue for at least 13 years.
