WES to launch new funding call in April

Wave Energy Scotland (WES) plans to open a new funding call in two months aimed at accelerating the development of wave energy sector.

The wave energy development body WES expects to launch a call for control systems in April, with the associated brokerage event to be held in Edinburgh a month later, WES informed.

This will be the fourth call issued by WES, which was established as part of Highlands and Islands Enterprise in 2014, by request of the Scottish government, to drive the Scottish wave energy sector forward.

Since its creation, WES has issued three funding calls to support the innovative solutions within the wave energy sector, bringing the total investment by the organization in wave energy technology development to £15 million across 51 projects, all in less than two years.

The most recent funding awards by WES, in the amount of £3 million, backed 10 wave energy projects as part of the call focused on structural materials and manufacturing processes for wave energy technology.
