West Elara Jack-up Free to Drill Offshore Norway

On 13 December 2011, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) granted North Atlantic Norway Limited an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the West Elara mobile drilling facility.

An Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) is a decision by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway that expresses the authorities’ confidence that petroleum activities can be carried out using the facility within the framework of the regulations.

West Elara is a jack-up drilling facility delivered from the Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore in 2011.

West Elara can accommodate 120 people. It is registered in Norway and Det Norske Veritas is the classification society.

It is the assessment of the PSA that petroleum activity can be conducted using the West Elara facility within the framework of the regulations.

The decision is based on the information provided in the AoC application regarding the facility’s technical condition and the applicant’s organisation and management system, as well as the authorities’ verifications and other case processing.
