Wheatstone LNG contract goes to Vincotte

Vinçotte secured a contract for the integrity control of the Wheatstone LNG installation in Western Australia.

The Belgian company will be in charge of checking all the welding joints and steel constructions on-site.

The works are set to start this month. Vinçotte is setting up a team of about 25 people in Australia, who, in the next year and a half, will manage the project locally.

Vinçotte is also sending a 10-or-so-strong team from Belgium down under, led by Business Unit Manager Kamiel Vanderlinden.

The Chevron-operated Wheatstone LNG project includes two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per annum plus a 200 terajoule per day domestic gas plant, located 12 kilometres west of Onslow on the Pilbara coast of Western Australia.
