WinGD dual-fuel engines ordered for SK Shipping’s LNG newbuilds

Winterthur Gas & Diesel (WinGD) on Tuesday said it has been contracted to supply two 5-cylinder dual-fuel engines for LNG duo currently under construction at South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The two 180,000-cbm LNG carriers are being built for the South Korean shipowner SK Shipping, the company said in its statement.

Both vessels will be fitted with a GTT Mark III Flex membrane cargo containment system. In addition, the ships will feature HHI’s Hi-SGAS system combining fuel system supply for the two dual-fuel engines.

HHI’s system enables 100 percent re-liquefaction of the boil-off gas, WinGD said.

Engines delivery is scheduled to take place in February 2018 for the first vessel and April 2018 for the second. The two vessels are scheduled to be delivered to its owner in 2019.
