Wood Mackenzie to Examine Future of Australian LNG at APPEA 2013
Wood Mackenzie’s Head of Australasia Upstream Consulting, Mr. Andrew McManus, will be presenting at a plenary spot in APPEA this year. Since high cost of production is a huge concern for the Australian upstream industry, Wood Mackenzie will examine how competitive Australia LNG supply will be and the future of the industry.

Mr. McManus, will present a paper at APPEA 2013 titled ‘Can Australia meet the needs of Buyers in the new LNG world?‘ The paper will discuss Wood Mackenzie’s view of:

  • The future of pre-FID Australian projects- what will happen to the next wave of investments?
  • Australia’s role in the global supply mix
  • US supply and the implications for Australia
  • Global LNG market opportunities- what are buyers looking for?
  • Where can Australia find its window of opportunity

Mr. McManus has over 20 years of experience covering the full value chain of the energy industry. He is sought after for his expertise in domestic gas markets, evolution of CSG and the development of LNG supply and procurement. Prior to Wood Mackenzie, Mr. McManus was the Gas Portfolio Manager for TRUenergy and worked with BP as a Geophysicist, evaluating resources in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Algeria and the UK.

In addition, two Wood Mackenzie experts specialising in APAC gas & power issues and Australasia’s upstream industry will also be attending APPEA 2013.

Mr. Chris Graham, Head of Australasia Upstream Research
As Head of Australasia Upstream Research, based in Perth, Mr. Graham is responsible for the region’s upstream analysis, which studies the oil and gas industry in a global context and provides industry-leading opinion on industry issues. Mr. Graham’s expertise lies in examining Australian costs, LNG, unconventional gas as well as east and west coast domestic markets. Prior to this role, Mr. Graham focused on the Middle East and North Africa region for Wood Mackenzie, with a particular emphasis on MENA gas markets and the key LNG exporting countries of Qatar, Oman, Yemen and UAE.

Mr. Gavin Thompson, Head of APAC Gas & Power Research
Based in Beijing, Mr. Thompson is responsible for leading the company’s independent views on key APAC gas and power developments. Mr. Thompson specializes in examining how regional dynamics fit with the global picture. Additionally, he is well-recognised as a leading expert in China gas markets. Previously, he was Director of Wood Mackenzie’s China Multi-Client Study titled ‘Race for Supply – the Future of China’s Gas Markets’ and is responsible for launching the research company’s China Gas & Power Service.
