Wood wins three contracts in support of SNE development off Senegal

UK oilfield services provider Wood has been awarded three contracts to perform subsea and flow assurance studies for Australian energy giant Woodside in Senegal, West Africa.

These contract were awarded in support of the proposed SNE Field Development in the Rufisque, Sangomar and Sangomar Deep Offshore blocks, Wood said on Tuesday.

Delivered by Wood’s technical experts in Australia and the UK, the contracts cover three separate concept definition studies: a targeted flow assurance study to ensure robust and safe design, an engineering assessment to demonstrate the feasibility of a riser and umbilical system at potential floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facilities, and a subsea flowlines study.

SNE development

 

Cairn Energy is currently the operator of the Rufisque, Sangomar and Sangomar Deep Offshore blocks. The Sangomar Deep portion of offshore Senegal PSC contains the SNE field. Cairn’s partners off Senegal are Woodside, FAR Limited, and Petrosen.

Woodside acquired a material position in the SNE field from ConocoPhillips in 2016. In 2017, Woodside became Development Lead for the SNE Field Development-Phase 1 and plans to transition to operator of the blocks in the second half of 2018.

The joint venture achieved a concept select decision at the end of 2017 and entered concept definition. The Phase 1 development concept for the SNE field is a stand-alone FPSO facility with subsea infrastructure where redeployed FPSO is the preferred development option. It will be designed to allow subsequent SNE development phases, including options for potential gas export to shore and for future subsea tiebacks from other reservoirs and fields.

Phase 1 will include oil production as well as gas and water injection wells. The expected FPSO oil production capacity is approximately 100,000 bbl/day.

Invitations to tender started in 1Q 2018 with major FPSO and subsea infrastructure contractors. Exploitation plan is targeted for submission and approval in H2 2018 with the Final Investment Decision (FID) to follow. Front end engineering and design (FEED) is expected to start in H2 2018 and first oil is expected in 2021-2023.
