Woodside Founder Dies at 99 (Australia)

Australian oil and gas company Woodside has informed that the company’s former chairman Geoff Donaldson, passed away last week.

Donaldson, widely recognised as the father of the company, passed away at the age of 99.

He helped found Woodside in 1954 by underwriting the company’s first share issue. Two years later he became chairman, staying in the role for 28 years. Donaldson retired in 1984.

In 2009 an LNG carrier built for Pluto LNG was named the Woodside Donaldson in his honour.
