Woodside's Jujak-1 Well Offshore Korea Fails to Impress

Australia’s oil & gas exploration and production company Woodside has plugged and abandoned its Jujak-1 exploration well, in Ulleung Basin offshore South Korea.

The deep water well located about 40 km north of the Donghae gas-condensate platform and about 50 km east of the city of Pohang in the East Sea of Korea failed to deliver hydrocarbons.

Jujak-1 well, owned by Woodside (50%, operator) and KNOC (50%), lying in a water depth of 1.800 meters, should have been drilled in late 2011, but the drilling was postponed due to a delay in the availability of a suitable drilling rig.

Had the discovery been made, it would have been developed via an FPSO, with the associated gas piped to the Donghae platform to the south.
