Update: Worker dies at Sabine Pass LNG terminal

A worker has died in an accident at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG export plant in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

An operations contractor was found unresponsive at the LNG terminal Monday morning, according to a report by local station KPLC.

The person was transported to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

“We appreciate the assistance of first responders. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” a Cheniere spokesperson told LNG World News in an emailed statement late Tuesday.

The spokesperson did not provide any additional information regarding the incident.

According to KPLC, this is the second fatality in a month at Sabine Pass LNG. On October 17, Donald Jenkins, 45, of Beaumont in Texas, died after falling from scaffolding at the LNG plant, the report said.

Houston-based Cheniere is currently building liquefaction and export facilities at its existing import terminal located along the Sabine Pass River on the border between Texas and Louisiana.

Sabine Pass LNG export facility is expected to start receiving feed gas by the end of the year with the first cargo to be shipped in January.
