Xiamen Shipbuilding to Construct China’s First Self-Built 100.000-ton Cruise Ship

Shan-Hai-Shu Group and Xiamen International Cruise Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to build China’s first self-built 100,000-ton cruise ship in Xiamen on September 7 and intends to name it ” China Xiamen”, reports Xiamen Economic Daily. The agreement also included the construction of an international cruise homeport in Xiamen.

According to the agreement, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. will make the design for the cruise ship and serve as construction consultancy, China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) will lead the ship construction and design research project application, Finland Deltamarin is entrusted to offer consultation and supervise the construction, and Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. is responsible for the shipbuilding.

The construction of “China Xiamen” is a long-term plan, and at present there is no specific timetable, says Shan-Hai-Shu Group

The cruise homeport will be connected to other parts of Xiamen via Metro Line 2 and it will include shopping centers, theme parks, and hotels.
