Yamal LNG project 25 pct complete

Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project is taking strides forward.

A recent meeting held by Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Jacques de Boisséson, the chief executive of Total’s unit, Total Exploration and Production Russia, revealed that the quarter of the project is complete.

According to Jacques de Boisséson, construction of the project is 20-25% complete.

At the end of January, Yamal LNG and Gazprom Marketing & Trading Singapore signed a 20-year supply and purchase agreement that will see 2,9 million tons of LNG produced by Yamal project delivered to the Asian-Pacific region, primarily to India.

Novatek and Total are planning to start production from the 16.5 MTPA Yamal LNG project in 2017.
