Yemen LNG Implements New SD Projects, Awards 40 Scholarships in Shabwa


At the LNG Plant of Balhaf, Saturday, 17 October, Yemen LNG awarded scholarships to 28 undergraduate students from Shabwah Governorate, out of 40, to study in Sana’a, Aden, Hadhramout and Dhamar Universities in areas of medicine, civil engineering, and chemical engineering.

On this occasion, Yemen LNG announced in cooperation with the Public Works Project the launch of the construction of 10 schools in Radhom, Jirdan, and Al-Rawdah districts, Shabwah governorate. The 10 schools will receive 2,000 female and male students.

The Yemen LNG sustainable development program is the largest such program in Yemen. This initiative will contribute to improving the education process and reducing illiteracy rates in the targeted areas.

The total cost of the 10 schools is US$ 1.73 million (YR 370,000,000). Yemen LNG has already built 7 schools along the pipeline.

In attendance at the ceremony were the Governor of Shabwah, Dr. Ali Al-Ahmadi, The Deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals Mr. Abdul-Malik Al-Ama, the Public Works Project Director Mr. Sa’eed Abdo, Yemen LNG General Manager Francois Rafin, and a number of the students winning the internal scholarship awards.
