Yuriy Boyko: : Russia, Ukraine Reach Settlement on Gas Price Issue

Russian and Ukraine have managed to reach a settlement on gas price issue. The agreement has been achieved due to the common understanding of the need to make a move towards each other by the Ukrainian and Russian side.

“A key role was played by the understanding that this issue has become such strong irritant in our relations, that it has been both the starting point and the final issue in the negotiations between the top leaders,” Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko stressed.

He emphasized that this movement towards each other would be useful for the economies of the two states.

“We have decreased considerably purchase of gas from the Russian Federation. Only this year we have bought around 2 cubic meters of gas from Europe. And the same tendency was planned by us for the following year. That’s why an understanding arose that we should move towards each other. I am convinced this reciprocal movement will be favourable for the two economies,” Yuriy Boyko announced.
