Zawtika gas flows to Thailand

Thai oil company PTTEP has informed that gas began flowing from the Zawtika Project offshore Myanmar to the Thailand market.

The Zawtika Project began delivering natural gas for use in Thailand and is currently ramping up output to a rate of 240 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), which is the daily contract quantity (DCQ) as stipulated in the Gas Sales Agreement.

The project has been delivering natural gas for domestic use in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar since March 2014, at a rate of approximately 60 MMSCFD.

The Zawtika project is the largest overseas offshore producing gas field operated by PTTEP.

“This success marks as another important milestone for PTTEP in supplying natural gas to ensure energy security for both Thailand and Republic of the Union of Myanmar,” reads a statement on the company’s website, signed by Tevin Vongvanich , President and Chief Executive Officer of PTTEP.

The Zawtika Project is located approximately 300 km south of Yangon and 290 km west of Tavoy (Dawei), Myanmar. PTTEP International Limited (PTTEPI), a subsidiary company of PTTEP, is the operator with 80% interest, whilst its joint venture partner is Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) with 20% interest.
