Oman Drydock Company Receives First German Container Vessel

Oman Drydock Company received the first German container vessel, in addition to a vessel called ‘Raysut Cement Carrier’. Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Oman Drydock Company Sheikh Khalil Al Salmi said that since last April, Oman Drydock Company has repaired 12 ships of various sizes. The company received the German vessel, the first of its kind at the dock. It is 168 metres long and 26.7 metre wide and can ferry 1,608 containers,” Al Salmi said. The dock also received another ship, a local ship owned by Raysut Cement Company. The maximum load of this vessel is 9,813 tonnes. Al Salmi pointed out that receiving such ships starts with the marketing division that communicates with a network of international agents to capture local and global clients through a set or promotional and marketing channels. A programme has been developed to take part at ship repair exhibitions in different parts of the world. The company has plans to take part at the forthcoming exhibition at the end of this year in India and Korea in a bid to promote the drydock project. Participation in such events is a good opportunity for bridging cooperation with major shipping companies and vessel owners. According to Al Salmi the company has sent a few employees on scholarships and training at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering in Korea, and to one of its branches in Romania.
