42 Nobelwind Turbines Installed, 8 to Go

42 out of 50 MHI Vestas V112-3.3MW turbines have been installed at the 165MW Nobelwind offshore wind farm in the Belgian North Sea, Parkwind, the developer and part owner of the wind farm, reports.

Jan De Nul started the turbine installation at the wind farm, also known as Belwind 2 or Bligh Bank II, at the end of October 2016, when the offshore high voltage substation (OHVS) was also energized.

The first turbine at Nobelwind started producing electricity in early January.

The wind farm, owned by Parkwind, Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation and the Dutch investment fund Meewind, is located 47 kilometres off the coast of Belgium and it covers an area of 19.8 square kilometres.

When completed in December 2017, the project will produce 651 GWh of clean energy annually, enough to provide energy for over 186,000 Belgian households.
