China: CIC Changxing Shipyard Completes Repair Works for MV Qilinzuo

CIC Changxing Shipyard Completes Repair Works for MV Qilinzuo

On Jan. 7th, 2012, CIC Changxing shipyard completed all the repair projects for MV Qilinzuo. M.V. Qilinzuo belongs to China Shipping group and her main repair projects included new installation of 3 windlasses, the emergency towing device and the low sulfur oil system of boiler.

It should be a special survey for the mentioned vessel. Since the mooring pipe and the drawing sheet of enhanced steel structure for windlass & the low sulfur oil system couldn’t be ready on time, the repairing period was quite tough. After discussing, the repair manager, supervisors and foremen decided to fix the position of mooring pipe at first, and then welded the foundation and strengthened the steel structure. Once the mooring pipe arrived, the yard could weld it directly on the foundation which saved time for the rest issues.

Meanwhile, considering the mooring pipe of No. 6 cargo tanker was the same as No. 2 cargo tanker in term of tonnage, the foreman suggested the shipowner to use the mooring pipe of No. 6 cargo tanker instead of purchasing the new one. Finally, the project was well completed through the joint efforts of every staff, and exceeded the expectation of the ship owner.
