Steel Cutting Ceremony for 81.500 DWT Bulk Carrier Held at JH Shipyard

Jinhai Heavy Industry, a large-scale shipbuilding company, recently held the steel cutting ceremony for the first 81.500 DWT Bulk Carrier. This 81.500 DWT bulk carrier comes as the optimization and upgrade of the 79,600 DWT bulk carrier. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for next year.

The ship has an overall length of 229 meters, molded breadth of 32.26 meters, molded depth of 20.25 meters, and design draft of 12.20 meters and deadweight of over 81,500 tons. Compared with the 79,600 DWT Bulk Carrier as the major product, 81,500 DWT Bulk Carrier has achieved great improvements on the labor, laying-off, construction and drawing design. Meanwhile, the ship requires a new painting workmanship based on BC Specifications of 81,500 tons and PSPC to ensure the full implementation of PSPC on shipping.

Jinhai Heavy Industry Co., originating from Jinhaiwan Shipyard Co., Ltd, is set up by Zhouji Group. JH was established in February 2004 with a total registered capital of 2.31 billion RMB. Till now, its total assets have reached up to 18 billion RMB. JH occupies an area of more than 5 million m2 with workshop areas of almost 1000 thousand m2. Along the 11,000-meter coastline, JH has outfitting wharf over 2800 meters and 6 docks with a total capacity of 1.68 million tons. The biggest one has a capacity of 0.5 million tons, which ranks among the best in China and even in Asia. Equipped with two 800t gantry cranes, several gantry cranes of 550t, 450t and 300t, more than 40 gantry cranes from 25t to 150t, JH has a variety of large-scale automatic shipbuilding and repairing equipments such as four production lines pretreating raw steel material, two plane sectional flow production lines, several imported plasma cutting machines, etc. The annual steel plate processing output could be more than 0.9 million tons, while the annual output of shipbuilding could reach 6 million tons.

JH is capable of building types of large and medium ships at home and abroad such as container ships, LNG/LPG, Ro-Ro, FPSO, product tankers, crude oil tankers, bulk carriers, passenger vessels and special vessels.
