Sea Trials Completed for New Practice Teaching Ship

CIC Jiangsu Shipyard has completed sea trials for 48.000 DWT practice teaching bulk carrier (CIS48000JX-01) built for Shanghai Maritime University. The vessel is designed and constructed as single side, single propeller and low-speed diesel engine driven ship which can easily accommodate 160 students in teaching practice on the sea.

The ship left Jiangsu Shipyard outfitting quay No. 1 and began its sea trial on Nov 16th. After completing five days of extensive sea trials the vessel berthed at CIC Shanghai Changxing wharf in Shanghai Port. During the sea trials, more than 40 test were conducted, such as the host load test, speed measurement, anchor, steerage test, machinery-unmanned and so on.

The ship is 189.9 meters long with molded breadth of 32.26 meters, molded depth of 15.7 meters and speed of 14.2 knots. It can carry 45.000 tons of bulk cargo. The ship is the largest and most advanced ocean practice teaching ship in the world.

Naming and delivery ceremony for the vessel is scheduled for December.
