Construction Starts on Naiad's Ninth 15m Pilot Boat

Naiad’s 15m Pilot boat is proving to be a very popular model. Naiad’s USA licensee, Naiad Newport, has recently begun construction on the ninth incarnation of this design for a USA client. The previous eight of these vessels are operating, and were built, in New Zealand (one), Australia (one), and China (six).

Power for this vessel will be from twin Scania DI13 700hp engines hooked up to a shaft drive arrangement. Topsides it will look very similar to the other Naiad 15m Pilot boats, with the walk-around cabin, specially designed handrail system and foam fenders.

This Naiad has excellent sea keeping abilities giving a soft ride in the short harbour chop and continues to be safe in the rougher waters encountered outside of the safety of the harbour. The Pilot house has plenty of windows giving exceptionally good all round visibility, inside shock mitigating seats offer additional comfort and leading edge electronics just add to the whole package.
