SNC to Launch NIBULON's New Floating Crane

Romanian shipbuilder Santierul Naval Constanta Shipyard (SNC) is about to launch NIBULON’s new floating crane. At present, two last sections of the new floating crane (Yard No.NB 603) have been placed into position at the shipyard’s dry dock.

After the launching, the assembly of cables and pipeline fittings, outfitting of galley and spaces, installation of electronics, navigation devices, engines and auxiliaries will be done afloat.

The floating crane project was designed by “Torola Design Group”, the company that has already developed projects of non-self-propelled vessels and tugs for NIBULON (NBL-90 and POSS-115 projects). The floating crane will operate on the high seas with wave height up to 1.5 m and wind force up to 20 m/s.

The vessel will be equipped with 4 Volvo Penta diesel-generators (Sweden) of 420 kW each (a diagram of electric drive of propulsion system), Marine Interior welded outfit (the USA), Schottel rudder propellers (Germany), conditioning and ventilation systems produced by Heinen & Hopman Engineering (Holland), and other electric and navigation equipment.

Main technical characteristics:

  • maximum length – 52.3 m;
  • breadth – 22 m
  • draught (lightship) – 2 m;
  • displacement at 2 m draught – about 2000 tons;
  • speed – up to 4 knots.
