PIRIOU Launches WFSV Duo

PIRIOU shipyard has launched two 19m wind farm support vessels (WFSVs) for MPI WORKBOATS Ltd., VROON’s offshore wind farm subsidiary.

Started in April 2013, ‘MPI NAPOLEON’ and ‘MPI SNOWBALL’ will join MPI’s fleet at the beginning of 2014 and will go into service in the North Sea and Baltic Sea.

Both vessels have been designed by BMT/Nigel Gee to service the windfarm industry. They are equipped with 2 x MAN engines and hydrojets, equating to a vessel speed of up to 25 knots, and can transport up to 12 passengers, 3 crew and two 10-foot containers.

Buoyed by this success, PIRIOU has begun building two 24m type WFSV24 units to a BMT NIGEL GEE design for delivery at the end of 2014.
