Research Vessel ‘Huajiachi’ Delivered after Acceptance Check (China)

Scientific research vessel “Huajiachi”, the first domestic floating marine test platform constructed by Zhejiang University, was delivered on 22 December after acceptance test. The test platform is the main supporting auxiliary project of Zhairuoshan technology demonstration island co-constructed by Zhejiang University and Zhoushan City, and will be positioned at anchor in the waters near Zhairuoshan island.

Research Vessel 'Huajiachi' Delivered after Acceptance Check

“Huajiachi” is a small semi-submersible platform consisting of a deck module, four columns, two pontoons and systems including mooring, power, control, signals and etc. The platform is of 19 meters in length, 15 meters in width, and 16 meters in height, and can float on water depth of 30 to 100 meters. A variety of ocean engineering research trials can be done on the platform, including the determination of storm flow, installation and testing of subsea production systems, installation and testing of subsea pipelines and risers, wind and solar test, test of mooring systems, and marine geotechnical tests and so like.

Key members of the construction of “Huajiachi” vessel are Professor Wang Lizhong, vice dean of School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Professor Bai Yong. The intellectual property rights of the floating marine test platform belongs to Zhejiang University. The vessel is named after one of the 5 campuses of Zhejiang University “Huajiachi”.

The “Huajiachi” vessel is the auxiliary project of national 985 project and was built by Zhoushan Hetai Ship Building Reparing Co. LTD.
