Evergreen Christens Fourth L-Type Vessel Built by CSBC Corporation (Taiwan)

Evergreen Group held the naming ceremony for the EVER LUCENT, the fourth of its L-type vessel to be built by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan on 10 March 2014.

The ceremony was officiated by by Ms. Molly Mok, Chairman of Evergreen Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd. The official naming of the new 8,508 TEU vessel was performed by Mrs. Pan-Tin Lim, the wife of Evergreen Shipping Agency (Singapore) Chairman Mr. Patrick Ang.

The delivered vessel, EVER LUCENT, is owned by Evergreen Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

Like it’s L-type sister ships, EVER LUCENT is 334.8 meters in length, 45.8 meters wide, has 948 reefer plugs and a draft of 14.2 meters. Each can cruise at speeds up to 24.5 knots. The ship will be delivered into service on March 11th and join Evergreen Line’s Far East – Europe route. replacing an older vessel.

Evergreen commenced its fleet rejuvenation program with the ordering of thirty 8,000 TEU L-type containerships when shipbuilding costs reached cost-effective levels. Besides, in order to meet the vessel demands of the joint venture agreements with its strategic partners, Evergreen has also chartered fifteen vessels. The delivery schedule of the vessels started in July 2012 and will be completed during the first half of 2015.

It is expected that Evergreen’s fleet will receive another eighteen newbuildings in 2014 and the remaining three ships in 2015. To complete the fleet renewal program, the new vessels entering service will be balanced by a gradual redelivery of fifty-four chartered vessels as the terms of their charters expire.
