Bulk Carrier Saga Falcon Runs Aground

Bulk carrier Saga Falcon ran aground on Sunday, October 26th in the river Rio de la Plata five nautical miles south from Chinchillas, Uruguay. 

Due to the grounded vessel owned by Saga Welco , the traffic in the Martín García canal was completely obstructed, according to  Argentine Hydrographic Service, branch of the Ministry of Defense responsible for providing hydrographic services.

A tug and a patrol boat were rushed to the scene to help the Hong Kong-flagged bulker refloat.

The 2012-built vessel, which was bound for Nueva Palmira, is currently at anchor, according to Marine Traffic data.

The cause of the grounding is unknown.
