Spotted: Viking Grace Receives 1000th LNG Top-Up

In today’s spotted we bring you the LNG-powered cruise ferry, Viking Grace, receiving its 1,000th supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the M/S Seagas, which is specially built for ship-to-ship refuelling, at Stadsgården Port in Stockholm. 

The Seagas has supplied the Viking Grace with about 60 tons of LNG.

Owned by the Finnish ferry operator Viking Line, the cruise ferry was put into service in January 2013. The Viking Grace was said to be the first passenger vessel to run on LNG.

The LNG bunkerings of the ferry have been performed in partnership with the Swedish company AGA Gas AB.

Built at Finnish STX Turku shipyard, the Viking Grace features a length of 218 meters and a width of 31.8 meters.

With its gross tonnage of 57,565 tons, the ship can accommodate 2,800 passengers.

The cruise ferry is deployed on the Stockholm – Turku daily service.
