Business & Finance

Shipping and logistics services provider GAC UK has signed a three-year terminal and marine services deal with Valero Logistics UK, a subsidiary of Valero Energy Corporation.

Under the agreement, GAC UK will manage and support the discharge of 12-14MT of clean petroleum products each from up to 180 tankers a year at the ports of Cardiff and Plymouth, starting from February 1, 2017.

On April 1, the company’s raft of jetty operation services for the energy giant will be extended to include Avonmouth.

GAC UK said it will provide terminal services including “secure and safe manning of berths, ship/shore safety checks and connecting shore cargo lines to vessels’ manifolds.

The firm will also conduct value adding cargo sampling at three stages: from the vessels’ tanks before discharge, from shore lines during the operation and from the trucks. The results, including gauge readings before and after discharge, will be fed back to Valero.

This latest signing comes on the back of a recent announcement of GAC UK’s contract to support Shell UK’s operations at Braefoot Bay.

“This latest deal represents the continuing expansion of our terminal and marine services portfolio in UK ports,Herman Jorgensen, Managing Director, GAC UK, said.
