 CIC Changxing Shipyard Repairs Bulk Carrier MV Corona Bulker

CIC Changxing Shipyard completed the repair of MV Corona Bulker ahead of schedule. The main particular of the subject bulk carrier is 299m*45m*24m and the vessel arrived to the yard on Oct 20th. The main work was to repair the sea damaged starboard i.w.o. accommodation area, covering around 100 tons of steel renewal.

The sea damaged area located in the engine room, engine room Starboard D.O.T, engine room St. deep W.B.T, accommodation ladder and rescue boat deck.

Before the vessel arrival to the shipyard, the business headquarters arranged the shipyard’s production department, technology department and hull outfitting workshop to assign the engineers to go onboard for work inspection at the anchorage of Rizhao, Shandong province. The production department started to prepare the project materials after the repair plan was confirmed. Meanwhile, the technology department finished to work the craft procedure of the block construction within only two days. The hull outfitting workshop arranged the workers to follow the procedure strictly to complete the prefabrication of double-curved block before the vessel’s arrival. The block was 52 tons heavy which has broken the yard’s records of the block prefabrication.

The leadership of the yard paid great attention to this project. The production department and workshop spared no efforts to carry out entire repair jobs especially to the steel renewal. The cutting of the sea damaged steel parts was completed just in the second day of her arrival to the shipyard. When removing the blocks, the workers strictly abided by the shipyard’s safety regulation. All the management went to the spot and finally the large block was assembled in position smoothly and successfully. It took only 9 days from start to finish and all steel works were completed one day earlier than the schedule.

CIC Changxing Shipyard operated effectively, shared the opinions with the owners & class surveyor, and completed the job ahead of the schedule with high quality.
