Two Containerships Collide Near Bremerhaven, Germany

No one was injured when Maersk Kalmar and Conmar Avenue container ships collided yesterday at 16:00 near Bremerhaven, Germany.

Conmar Avenue, sailing under the flag of  Antigua Barbuda lost several containers in the incident and subsequently ran aground. The container ship has been re-floated with the tug assistance and is now being towed to Bremerhaven.

Dutch-flagged Maersk Kalmar, carrying 28 crew members, is already in the port of Bremerhaven and is undergoing damage assessment.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
