Det norske, a Norwegian, privately-held, oil and gas company today announced that the company’s physical production in June was 9,655 barrels per day.

In May, Det norske’s production increased by over 250 percent, spurred mainly by the start of production from the Jette field. The first well on the Jette field came on stream 19 May. Both wells at Jette are now producing stable and production figures for June are almost doubled compared to May.

Jette field, located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea is expected to produce 10,000 barrels per day, giving Det norske 7,000 from Jette. Jette is developed with two subsea wells, tied back to the ExxonMobil operated Jotun platform. Both wells are now in production.

Det norske is the operator of Jette, holding a 70 percent interest. Petoro is the partner, with a 30 percent interest. Jette contains about 14 million barrels of oil equivalents, based on a 30 percent recovery rate.

Seismic data

The company also announced it had acquired the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s (NPD’s) seismic package from the southeastern part of the Barents Sea and the ocean areas off Jan Mayen. Det norske wants to actively investigate the opportunities also in this area.

Torleiv Agdestein, exploration manager for the Norwegian and the Barents Sea, says it is natural and important for Det norske to evaluate these areas.

He said: “The company has long been an advocate for increased activity in the north, and we are always looking for more knowledge about the opportunities that exist here.”

NPD acquired 2D seismic in the areas in 2011 and 2012.
