ABB to Supply Submarine AC Power Cable for Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm in UK

ABB will supply the 33 km long submarine cable for the connection of the wind turbines to the coast at Blåbjerg, while Prysmian will provide onshore cables.

The onshore cable connection, which will bring offshore wind power to Energinet.dk’s substation in Endrup, east of Esbjerg, will be either 50 or 60 km in length, depending on the route Nature Agency suggests in the EIA process.

“Until the end of the year, we expect to grant contracts for other major wind farm components, such as transformers and a large platform to be installed at the offshore wind farm, where it will collect power from the turbines,” said Søren Juul Larsen, Project Manager from Energinet.dk.

The contract for submarine cable is worth $40 million and it includes transport and cable-laying. The contract for onshore cable is worth $15 million and it does not include the cable-burial.
