Aban Offshore Scores ONGC Drillship Deal

Offshore drilling services provider Aban Offshore has been awarded a contract by the India’s Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for deployment of the drillship Aban Ice for a firm period of 3 years.

The total value of the letter of award is approximately $72.4 million (equivalent to INR 471 Crores).

This deal follows a previous 3-year charter hire from 2013 valued at some $185 million.

According to the company’s Bombay Stock Exchange filing, the Aban Ice is expected to start its contract during the second quarter of 2017.

The 183 meters long drillship, converted in 1975, is equipped for working at a water depth of 600 meters.
