South Korea: Prachi LNG tanker launched

The 173,000 cbm Prachi LNG carrier was launched on November 27 at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.

The vessel is owned by India LNG Transport Company No. 4, a joint venture comprising Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, NYK, “K” Line and the Shipping Corporation of India.

Once delivered in 2016, it will join Petronet LNG’s fleet as the company’s fourth chartered vessel. India’s largest LNG importer chartered the membrane-type LNG carrier for a period of 19 years.

Prachi will transport LNG from Chevron’s giant Gorgon project on Barrow island in Australia to Kochi in India.
