Chevron inks LNG supply accord with China Huadian

Oil and gas giant Chevron on Monday said its unit, Chevron U.S.A., signed a non-binding LNG supply heads of agreement with China Huadian Green Energy.

Upon the finalization of the deal China Huadian Green Energy, a unit of China Huadian Group, will be supplied with up to 1 million metric tons of LNG per year from Chevron’s USD 54 billion Gorgon project.

Chevron said in its statement that the deal is signed for a period of 10 years starting in 2020.

Chevron is developing the Gorgon LNG project with its partners, ExxonMobil, Shell, Osaka Gas, Tokyo Gas and Chubu Electric.

The project will liquefy the gas delivered from the Gorgon and Jansz-Io fields at its 15.6 mtpa LNG facility under construction at Barrow Island, Western Australia.

The first LNG cargo is expected to be loaded from the project by the end of the year or early 2016.
