FERC approves G2 LNG’s pre-filing request

The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a letter granting G2 LNG’s request to begin the pre-filing review process for its proposed Calcasieu River LNG project.

The Louisiana-based energy development company proposes to construct an LNG liquefaction facility with a peak export capacity of approximately 14 million metric tonnes of LNG per annum on the west bank of the Calcasieu River in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, the letter reveals.

In an earlier statement, G2 LNG informed that the project facilities will include two LNG trains with an average base LNG production capacity of approximately 6.7 mtpa each, pre-treatment facilities, three 180,000 cbm LNG storage tanks and two marine loading berths capable of receiving up to 250,000 cubic meter LNG carriers.

Earlier in July, the project was granted authorization to export LNG to free-trade agreement countries and G2 also awarded a FEED contract LNG engineer KBR and is in advanced discussions with long-term customers in China, Europe and the Caribbean.

Deliveries from the Calcasieu River LNG project are expected to commence in early 2020.
