Peru ships LNG to China, Mexico

Vessels

Peru’s only liquefaction facility at Pampa Melchorita recently dispatched two cargoes of liquefied natural gas to China and Mexico.

Methane Alison Victoria, the 2007-built LNG carrier capable of transporting 145,000 cubic meters of the chilled gas, departed from the export plant on May 2 and set course for China.

State-owned Perupetro has not revealed the exact destination of the vessel, first to head for China since June 2011.

The second cargo was shipped on May 5 to Mexico aboard the 136,600 cbm LNG carrier Galea. The carrier is probably heading for the Manzanillo LNG terminal in the Colima state.

With the two latest cargoes, Peru shipped a total of 325 cargoes of liquefied natural gas since the facility began operations in June 2010.
