South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries has won an order to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier.

The 180,000-cbm LNG carrier will be built for Norway-based Knutsen OAS Shipping, with local media pricing the contract at US$193 million.

The vessel ordered by Knutsen will be under a charter contract with the Spanish electric utility Iberdrola.

It will ship the chilled fuel from the Corpus Christi LNG export project in Texas, United States, currently being built by the LNG player Cheniere.

LNG World News contacted both Knutsen and Hyundai for a comment. We will update the article once we receive a response.
