Australia’s Origin Energy completes BassGas project

Sydney-based Origin Energy, the holder of a 37.5 percent stake in the Australia Pacific LNG project, has completed the final phase of the BassGas mid-life enhancement project offshore Victoria.

The installation and successful commissioning of the compressor and condensate pumping unit at the Yolla-A platform had been completed ahead of schedule and under budget, AWE, a partner in the BassGas project with a 35% stake said on Friday.

This follows the drilling and completion of, and gas sales from, the final two development wells, Yolla-5 and Yolla-6, in 2015.

Compression of Yolla gas started on June 12 this year with production reaching the facility design capacity of 67 TJ/day on June 24, following a period of performance testing and system fine tuning, AWE said.

The BassGas project produces gas, condensate and LPG from the offshore Yolla field located in Bass Strait between Victoria and Tasmania.

Product is the sent via pipeline from the Yolla platform to a gas processing facility at Lang Lang in Victoria.
