Endesa Chile to Defend Its Contractual Rights Regarding BG LNG Supply

Endesa Chile issued the following statement regarding the alleged breach of liquefied natural gas supply by British Gas (BG) to GNL Chile.

“Endesa Chile shall require from all pertinent entities, the compliance with their contractual rights and the stability of a legitimately contracted supply,” the company said.

“Endesa Chile clarifies that the negotiations it is holding with BG are linked to the issue of the price of the subscribed contracts and not to the alleged failure of supply from BG. Endesa Chile will not accept the latter as a measure of pressure,” the company added.

BG Group has production troubles in Egypt which may affect supplies of LNG to two of its Chilean customers, Endesa Chile and ENAP.

The use of LNG has become relevant for the country’s energy supply.
