Turkey Wants Norwegian LNG

Turkey’s Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said on Tuesday that the country has asked Norway to provide up to 6 billion cubic metres of liquefied natural gas per annum under a long-term contract.

He said during a visit to Oslo that the request for LNG was made to Norway’s Oil Minister Tord Lien and is part of Turkey’s efforts to diversify its sources of gas, Reuters reported.

Turkey currently has two LNG import terminals, one at Marmara Ereglisi that has an annual capacity of 8.2 billion cubic meters, and another in the town of Aliaga with an annual capacity of 6 billion cubic meters.
