Collaboration

ABL, part of Oslo-listed global consultancy group ABL Group, has joined forces with Egypt’s Petroleum Safety and Environmental Services Company (PetroSafe) to collaborate on technical performance solutions across Egyptian onshore and offshore energy assets.

The duo has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which envisages cooperation across a range of technical services that will support through-life safety and performance in Egyptian energy facilities and subsea infrastructure. As a result, PetroSafe will be able to draw on the support of ABL Group’s Egypt-based businesses, including energy and marine consultancy ABL and design and engineering consultancy Longitude.

While the latter will work with the Egyptian player to provide training to industry stakeholders and operating companies in Egypt, the former will work with the Middle Eastern firm to provide marine assurance on a call-off basis, including vessel suitability surveys, inspections and audits, pre-purchase and condition surveys, DP trials, and consulting and critical systems consultancy.

Stewart Brown, Head of Process Engineering at Longitude, commented: “The Egyptian offshore energy landscape is both busy and rapidly expanding. Ensuring cost optimisation and long-term, sustainable asset performance from the outset is critical.

Not only to maintain competitiveness, but also to support wider energy security. Embedding process safety management fundamentals early, through professional training and an integrated asset integrity approach, is key to achieving safe, reliable and resilient energy assets.”

In addition, ABL & Longitude will support PetroSafe in providing consultancy services for Ports & Harbours, including decarbonization. The latest memorandum of understanding is an extension of a previously signed MoU regarding the companies’ collaboration on asset and data management.

Abdulhameed Yehya, ABL’s Engineering Projects Lead in Egypt, highlighted: “Together with Longitude, and now with PetroSafe, we provide the Egyptian energy market with a unique technical offering.

Our combined capability means we support clients with a holistic approach, integrating niche expertise in engineering, safety and HSEQ and marine assurance, to help stakeholders in driving safety and performance across the operational life of an asset. We are delighted to continue our successful partnership with PetroSafe.”

This MoU comes shortly after ABL struck a rig move deal with Petroleum Marine Services (PMS), Egypt’s offshore construction and services company.
