Eni and BP order Vallourec’s pipe for Angolan waters

French provider of tubular solutions Vallourec has won a contract with Azule Energy, a joint venture between Italy’s Eni and the UK’s BP, to deliver pipes for an ultra-deepwater development in Angola.

Vallourec will supply over 26,000 tons of seamless carbon steel line pipes, representing approximately 210 kilometers of pipeline, including advanced solutions with heavy thermal insulation coating for the Greater PAJ project, described as Angola’s first integrated cross-block development.

The line pipe solutions will be delivered for production lines, service lines, water injection lines and gas export lines.

Deliveries will begin in July 2027 and continue through December of the same year.

According to the French firm, the project will involve one of the thickest thermal insulation systems ever implemented in the subsea industry, reaching up to 120 mm of glass syntactic polypropylene (GSPP) insulation thickness.

Project & Tenders

Located approximately 200 kilometers offshore Angola in water depths ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 meters, the Greater PAJ project encompasses the development of five offshore fields, including Palas, Astraea, Juno, Dione and Urano.

Eni reported on June 22 that the final investment decision (FID) had been reached for the oil development.
