Swinoujscie-Szczecin Gas Pipeline Secures Use Permit

The Governor of the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship issued a decision on granting a permit to use the high-pressure transmission gas pipeline at the section from Świnoujście to Szczecin.

The Świnoujście-Szczecin gas pipeline is one of key elements of the national gas transmission system. The completed project is directly connected with the LNG terminal which is constructed in Świnoujście. The gas pipeline will connect the LNG terminal with the Polish gas transmission network near Goleniów.

The gas pipeline of around 80 km, the diameter of 800 mm and the working pressure of 8.4 MPa runs across the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship near Świnoujście and across the municipalities of Międzyzdroje, Wolin, Stepnica and Goleniów.

The project of Gaz-System S.A. is carried out on the basis of the act on investments related to the LNG terminal in Świnoujście of 24 April 2009. The completed gas pipeline is also an element of the development of the cross-border transmission infrastructure within the area of the Baltic Sea (Baltic Interconnection).

Expenses related to the construction of the gas pipeline amounted to around PLN 245 million, including a grant under the EU European Energy Programme of Recovery (EEPR), which may cover not more than 50% of eligible expenses. The programme covers projects that improve the energy security of EU member states through cross-border investments.
