ABS Group wins Elba Island liquefaction project job

Kinder Morgan has secured the services of ABS Group, a unit of the U.S. classification society, for the development of a maintenance and integrity program for the Elba Island LNG project near Savannah, Georgia.

Under the agreement, ABS Group will develop the maintenance and integrity programs for the base plant, balance of plant and the terminal upgrade, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The full scope of ABS Group’s services cover program development and execution, including project management, strategy development and business processes, asset register, mechanical integrity, preventative maintenance development, spare parts and bill of materials, as well as data asset management services, ABS Group said.

Kinder Morgan’s US$2 billion liquefaction project is being carried out by the company’s two units Elba Liquefaction and Southern LNG, and will be  constructed and operated at the existing Elba Island LNG terminal.

The liquefaction project will have a total capacity of approximately 2.5 million tons per year of LNG for export, equivalent to approximately 350,000 Mcf per day of natural gas and is expected to come online before the end of 2018.
